Okay, so these are more like questions than random thoughts, but nonetheless...
- Why do we press harder on a remote control when we know the batteries
are getting weak?
- Why do banks charge a fee on "insufficient funds" when they know there is not enough?
- Why does someone believe you when you say there are four billion stars, but check when you say the paint is wet?
- Why doesn't glue stick to the bottle?
- Why do they use sterilized needles for death by lethal injection?
- Why doesn't Tarzan have a beard?
- Why does Superman stop bullets with his chest, but ducks when you throw a revolver at him?
- Whose idea was it to put an "S" in the word "lisp"?
- If people evolved from apes, why are there still apes?
- Why is it that no matter what color bubble bath you use the bubbles are always white?
- Is there ever a day that mattresses are not on sale?
- Why do people keep running over a string a dozen times with their vacuum cleaner, then reach down, pick it up, examine it, then put it down to give the vacuum one more chance?
- In winter why do we try to keep the house as warm as it was in summer when we complained about the heat?
- Why is shooting 'under par' acceptable in golf, while failure in anything else is considered sub-par?
- Why did Japan's kamikaze pilots wear helmets?
- What would a chair look like, if your knees bent the other way?
- If you're in a vehicle going the speed of light, what happens when you turn on the headlights?
- Why do we park in driveways and drive on parkways?
- Why can't you tickle yourself?
- If dogs are color blind, how do guide dogs know when to stop or go at a traffic light? I know... training; but still.
Welcome to the Belicove.com Guest Book. I'm glad you decided to stop by. Please, sign in and feel free to make suggestions for improving the site. If your last name is "Belicove" and you'd like a Belicove.com e-mail address, please click here.
Dude - where can I download the pizza coupons??? Great idea for the Blog - I appreciate the opportunity to share this with you. Excellent site real easy to get around and where else would I have known about the odds off Cheney's defib machine not functioning??
You are cracking me up. But what's new. Nice shots from the past and an especially good one of Brad. Seems like a good place to spout off. I'll be joining you every now and then.
Hi Mikal, The access address for email service will be changing to Mailpage.us. We should start a long very delayed marketing within two weeks. Your site looks great. How long did it take you? Peace, Ken
Belicovivitch...amazing! From your humble beginnings struggling w/ server side includes to a site w/ fully functioning PHP and some kick-ass graphics, you've come a long way. Makes me want to cry, b/c you make me look bad. I think I'm going to be asking you the stupid questions, now.
It was nice to see Ken & Jan, Renee and one of the Buikema's posted in here. I hope to see more of our friends stop by and post. Take it easy and hopefully, our volume will slow down so I can call ya.
Nice job, as usual. No surprise that we're on the same political wavelength. You probably didn't see my letter in the Denver Post last week, bashing the French bashers, but you can imagine what it said, mon ami, (or ask me).
I was disappointed at the mixed reception Michael Moore got on the Academy's annual show last night. But several of the others made up for that.
Thanks for the laugh with the war coverage drinking game. Although I'm not an LSU caliber drinker, I do see the wit of making fun on the media's hype on the war.
I wondered what you were doing with yourself evenings in Indy... Now I know... I have been tempted to do something similar for myself called billetin.com -- but didn't think it would be amusing to anyone else but me... The fact that I am here proves me wrong. It's funny you'd think I'd get used to being wrong by now... Hope you are well.
Great site - very navigable and eye-pleasing. Is this what people in the Midwest do at night and on the weekends? Or. . . is it what you do when imbibing certain libations while watching CNN?
Nice looking site! I haven't quite gotten around to hitting all parts of it, but so far it is pretty crazy. I just got back from a weekend in Moab. Fun times.
I am not signing this guestbook under duress or any pressure. I believe that belicove.com is a much needed addition to the internet. It is now my #1 site for Communist quotations and pictures of Mikal Belicove!
Great work! Exceedingly clean, clear and elegant design and navigation, and the blog itself is exceptional. It's a great mix of very funny, off-the-wall musings, and serious points that need to be made. I found the pop quiz especially on-point, and if enough of us say these things, at some point people will listen.
Since I am in grad school mode, I will attempt to be serious here. I am interested in a discussion on BeliBlog that addresses the distinction between outdoor education and adventure education. The terms are often used as synonymns, and there are others that swear there is a distinction. Does outdoor education need to take place "outdoors"? What category does experiential teambuilding activities and ropes/challenge course activities fall under. Damn it man, I need answers!
Well, I'm here, but I suspect you already knew that. Amazing site -- I'm impressed by the range of deep thoughts and commentary, though I bet you're really just doing this for the ego boost of the guestbook page.
Mikal,
What can I say but that I am bursting with pride !!! You have come a long way since the days at that school in Factoryville. I will keep in touch.
Mr. Mikal Belicove!! Great site! Just checking in, wanted to make sure you understand some very important issues. So far, I'm happy to report, I have been true to the cause. I have not broken my honor. I am proud to say I'm still standing, smiling and cheering, smack-dab in the middle of the chalk circle drawn around me on the floor, non other than the circle of honor, yes this is to what I speak. I thought you'd be exuberant to hear my outstanding report. Keep it flowing.
I followed a link to your blog from Matt Holzmann's blog and have been back every couple of days to read your mind. In fact it was the combination or your blog and Matt's that inspired me to start my own. I'm only a week old at it but I wanted to say thank you.
Kamakazi pilots wore helmets in the event that they crashed somewhere other than their designated target. If you train somebody to be willing to end their life for the sake of your cause...you want the opportunity to use them again if their equipment fails and their original mission is not completed.
Mikal- the only thing I see missing is a dating service- why don't you get on that. Good to see you are using your powers for good and voicing out on issues. I always valued that in you. How can I reach you for a much needed phone call?
Mikal...damn good to finally see something residing at this goofy "Belicove" site...besides "coming soon." Anyways...I'm going to enjoy your random ramblings too much, and I'll be sure to submit some 'critical' comments on your politikal conjectures, invalid arguments, and unjustifiable positions...to get started. Oh...by the way...sorry I didn't make it to Indy last fall. Better luck next time bro! Hope the life is good...
Finally got time to visit your site. It's great and funny. Maybe you can add a link to onion.com as well. That's a very funny site, as you undoubtedly know. I hope to return to your site regularly and keep posting coments.
Mikal - Wow! So this is a BLOG. I can't believe how organized and fun it is. It's going to take me some time to really look it over, but I wanted you to know that came to visit.
Have a great day. By the way, it's the 14th of the month, so I'm having a Great Day (thanks to your good idea).
OOOOOh my Gosh! ......and this is a BLOG! Hummmm! Unbelievable in a very good way. To think about all that is here might cave my mind in; which might be a good thing.? Refreshing place. ....and that mind is stationed in Indianapolis?!
so glad you said "hello"; now I have a place to rant and rave-
Waving back w/ :-) to awesome "YOU"!
(I will be back)
Its a beautiful site Mikal and since I am often online looking for a job in Denver (yes I finally made it back to Colorado and you had to go and leave) Ill be back often.
Love,
Becca
PS there is a 5 yo with dreadlocks down to his butt at the computer next to me. Gosh its good to be back in CO.
I spoke with Lee yesterday and he showed me your site - very impressive. You've accomplished what many have attempted - to establish a relevant discussion/editorial website.
Drop me a line or give me a call - 210-336-3812, will at nichols-texas dot com. Oh, and I tried to answer your 4 for Friday but seems like your apache/linux host server was melting down. (I'm a telcom/datacom sales engineer, see www.xo.com for an inkling. . .) I'm surprised nobody put Coogs Cafe - NOT! as the answer to #1a.
I'm looking forward to being a regular visitor to belicove.com, though at this moment I'm being ejected from the chair by my 6 yr. old son, Duncan, who regards cartoonnetwork.com as the proverbial center of cyberspace. But I will prevail, as I pay his tuition. . . and for the Silicone. Good seing what your up to after all these years.
Oh, Mikal - Go easy on Rush. Mrs. Nichols is a psychologist and she and I believe that mental illness is a disease, not a moral philosophy., and he obviously suffers from obsessivel compulsive disorder. You have to expect those Latent remarks from a man obsessed with conservatism, cigars, and, as was publicized a few days back, Vicodin. -heh heh.
Very Truly Yours,
Will Nichols

We feel like such studs being mentioned on your blog!!!
We know we're fun, but it's great to have it advertised!
I really loved walking, talking, singing and debating with you and Angela! Contrary to what I said when I met you, I will see you again . . .
XX00, Lisa
I'm so honored to have been mentioned on your website! Thanks for not mentioning the part about me bitching the first half and crying the second half of the race! I am looking forward to meeting you when I'm not experiencing hell.... Love ya, Kelley :)
Great work again dude and Angela! You are both very kind and interesting people! These girls give me the opportunity to be the stable girl of the group finally! :o) Chastity (aka Chas)
Was checking out classmates.com and was wondering what you have been doing. I enjoyed your web site and all of the interesting info. Just wanted to say hello.
Hey Mikal,
What's your email address? Doesn't look like it's listed on your website. Email me at my address above, would ya?
This is an article you might find interesting:
http://www.cnn.com/2003/TECH/internet/11/03/deadwood.online.ap/index.html
Way to be the top third!
Second question: You're an outdoorsman & I've been thinking about getting a kayak. I'd like some advice if possible.
Third thing: I'd like to see people's opinions re: a couple of Bush evils the first one being the purging of several valid voters from the Florida election rolls back in the 2000 election (I know this is going back a bit but it's an issue that has never been widely discussed) & how regular people feel about the lies the administration used to try and convince the country to go to war in Iraq. You interested in posting questions re these on your blog?
Talk to ya...

Hey Cowboy....
Thought of you the other day. Bought a new bathroom scrubber! Sorry, couldn't help myself. Took the Pink Pig to DC... went shopping and all he bought were cigars and wine. Lush! Any time I think I might be going insane, I log on to your site... It's not me, it's THEM! How the heck are you?
Sunshine.

Hi Mikal,
Perusing through your site brings a big smile to my face. Just thinking about all of the fun we had together in Boulder. Hope you are doing well. Love, Sarah
Just wanted to suggest a site you might enjoy/link to. It's called The Raw Story, www.rawstory.com, and it culls and composes progressive reporting from around the world. Like the Drudge Retort, but much cleaner visually and more frequently updated. We'd be happy to swap links.
Niiiiiiiiice. The guestbook is a little racy, but I love your site;) I've been here often, but never said hello. I'm a blogger in Indy, too. Please stop by and say hello sometime!
Hi Mikal- Remember me? I'm one of your Evansville girls from the Indy Mini. Wanted to let you know that I stopped by the site in June but didn't have time to write at the time. Angie and I were very honored to read that we had the #1 position of interesting things from the race! I really like the Beli-Blog- very interesting- have never seen anything like this before. I am currently deep into another Team in Trainng season- training and fundraising to run (EEK!) Nike 1/2 marathon in San Francisco in Oct. I don't really know how this works, but if you get my email address from this posting, please keep in touch! I will check back later in the week!
Just thought I'd stop by to see how you're doing. From the sounds of it, I might see you at a Wildoats soon. Nothing new to report--same old stuff and then the glorious weekends of freedom. Hope all is well.
Hello Mikal,
Not sure if you recall but we both graduated from UofH. I was visting the UofH Alumni website to get copies of old transcripts and saw your posting. Had heard about blogs but never "seen" one. Now after visting your sight have decided people with blogs have too much time. ;-)
I hope I have reached the famous Mikal Belicove. If not, I apologize for wasting your time. If so, Alas, I have found you although I did not see an email address on your wonderful, informative and descripte site.
If you recognize me, email me so we can trace back those lost years.
Mikal is the best. He's fantastic actually. So awesome that there are not words to describe what a devestatingly cool person he is. I also Like the color scheme of his site. Very Autumn.
Hi. Looks like you've got the best Blog in Indianapolis. I'm starting a new category at IndyLinks.com for Blogs. IndyLinks.com has over 6,000 links and is the largest Indianapolis search engine.
You site is listed at:
http://www.indylinks.com/Arts-Entertainment/Entertainment/Online-Internet/Blog-Blogs/index.html
If you know of any other good blogs; please let me know and I'll add them to IndyLinks.
December 1 is World AIDS Day and while I normally detest "Days" like Valentine's day, Father's Day et al (designed to sell greeting cards, nothing more), I do feel that AIDS is a sufficiently grave threat to the world for us to use this day to remind ourselves that we are all in this together and have to fight this dreaded pandemic the best we can.
We can do this by educating people around us about the distinction and difference between HIV and AIDS, the tests that can be taken to detect this disease (ELISA), and the methods that we should all use to prevent this. Maybe a mention on your blog main page will help?
And, yes dude, regardless of the fact we simply can't think that way, it COULD happen to any one of us...
Hi, tried to post a comment that I answered the Friday meme but my comment wasn't accepted because of the questionable x in the url site?
I couldn't put the URL in the guestbook entry either. The url is:
Hi Mikal. Thanks for coming in to ship your stuff to the Northeast. I hope the weather is cooperating.
Good website. Your group did a good job. Hopefully, I will see you in the store again sometime soon. If you go to the Abbey's new location, maybe I will see you there. I only go at night , usually the weekend, or anytime Sunday. See you later.
Read the Indy Monthly blog blurb and had to visit! You're even more interesting than I already knew you were! Enjoyed Christina's picture, the Splenda info, and the knowledge that you were Santa's helper.
I really enjoy your Blog. Have been reading it since you mentioned it on a Wednesday night. I don't get to read every day, but I try to take a look at least once a week to catch up.
A great picture of Christina. I think you got some really great ones but like you I think this tops the bunch.
When I saw you listed in Indy Monthly, I told Mom all about you.
I was browsing Globe of Blogs for sites in Indiana and came across your listing.
It seems like a nice site, but I am having lots of rendering problems. For some reason, the stories aren't appearing until way down the page. I was wondering what you used to build the site with or what browser are you using. I am using Mozilla 1.7 and my resolution is set at 1280 x 1024, so I dont think I should be having any issues with it. I am not sure if it is a coding issue or a browser issue.
I am an RN. The only thing I have ever been allergic to is poison oak, but after breaking out in an extremely itchy rash, I've been asking everyone if they've ever heard of a reaction to Splenda. (The general response was that Splenda is what is recommended when people react to other sugar substitutes). Tonight I searched for "Splenda allergies" and came up with your very helpful website. I'm convinced that I, too, am allergic to splenda.
I was looking for a picture of your new(?) car so that I'd know when you were at work (or not). But, alas, I can't get the Pictures link to work for me (how disappointing . . . mainly because I can't see all those photos of you as an adorable little tyke that everyone is talking about).
Great Beliblog Web site. You truly are a thinker!
Thanks for sharing. BTW, I do great with Splenda; first sugar sub I've ever been able to use.
Signed,
Zoe (without the umlaut over the "e")

Hi Mikal,
Could you post this link in the thread you sent me yesterday when I responded to the Chris guy? I think he should read this. Let's see who has to come off the high horse!
Hi! Just happened onto your site from over here in sunny Queensland,Australia..Great web site... Will be back again and again......cheers for now mate!!!
I love visiting your site! The Four For Friday is awesome; a little more thought provoking than the usual memes. Random thoughts crack me up and the statistics you post always put a smile on my face. Do you mind if I snag a few for my own blog? :-) Keep up the good work!! And I hope you are feeling 110% these days!
Mikal
This is Pond, if you remember? I just want to drop you a line letting you know I no longer work at the paper. So basically, the email I gave you is no longer working. Please email me via hotmail account. How are you doing?

Hey, Mikal, remember me? Kandi Harris? While you were out doing something really cool with your life, I have been busy having three kids.... Now they are 12, 8, and 3... Could we really all be that old? Or was I just a child bride?
Drop me a line sometime and let me know what you are up to. By the way, Seattle is a great area...
Remember me? Been in Atlanta since 1988 working for Hilton.
Followed your success over the years.
Great site.
I am still in touch with David Clinton- remember him?
Not sure if you remember me, but I took some pictures of you at that coffee shop on Penn street for Intake Magazine. Anyway, I just applied for a job at, I guess, you former publishing company, today, and thought about you. Anyhow, I just want to drop you a line. How are you?
Happened across your site through Feedmap. I'd love it if you wrote an entry at I Choose Indy! (ichooseindy.com).
Great site!

Hi Mikal:
You are just as cute as ever... I love your site but of course there wasn't too much you did I didn't like. I no longer have the same last name but I will sign your guest book to spark your memory:
Doris Elaine (Ayyubi)
Your one time Administrative Sect.
Delightful to see that new technology can be / is being successfully used to instill and promote aspects of the valued communities of the past... great to "see" Boulder and AEE remain in your genes... enjoy Utah and all that is...
The name Belicove, first name Victor, just popped into my head yesterday. I wondered if he might be, or might have been, a relative. We were neighbors living on Lakewood Avenue, Jamaica (Queens County), NY back in the 40's - well before your time Mikal. His father owned a photography studio. Just wondering.
I really like your perspective on blogging. This site is clean, easy to navigate, great nuggets of info and insight. And what is also great is that I want to come back and visit!
Mikal,
Just checking in. Life in Florida is good. Weather is perfect and being with our son and granddaughters is wonderful.
I missed working with you and John York on the Santa set in Indy.
I "Claused" at a Southgate Mall here in Sarasota this year. It has not had a good Santa for a while, so I will be "growing it from seed". Managment loved the toy making and the patrons did too. It looks like I have a place to work as long as I wish.
Professionally, I am the lab technician at Wellcraft. We make big, beautiful, expensive fishing boats for salt water fisherpersons. I am enjoying being back in the lab. I am pretty much left alone to do what I do on a daily basis. The best part of all is that I do not have to manage anybody.
Later,

Awesome blog!
Love the Random Thoughts ... and I keep coming back for more Four for Friday.
Was great to meet you at the Community 2.0 conference. I was on the shuttle to the airport and your breakfast conversation with the woman from webex was the topic of conversation (more like heated debate). Anyway, was great to meet you, hope to see you at future events and online.
Best regards,
Betty Sanchez
whoa!!! mikal belicove, a blast from the past... haven't heard from you in soooo long. your new "do" looks great. you look VERY serious! hope all is well. we are in florida (naples) ending up a great month. take care, love jan and ken
Mikal- I got your blog of Janet Meiners Blog (aka www.newspapergrl.com). I'm not sure if you are a regular follow of Janet's blog, but yesterday we spoke with Seth Godin about coming to speak in SLC. The catch is that we have to have 500 people by Monday to commit.
Janet tells me that you are a corporate blogger, and you really know what you're doing on the blogospher. If you could help that would be amazing. If you don't know who Seth Godin is or want to know more details on what we are doing you can read about it on this post on my or Janet's blog:
However, the biggest thing you can do is to blog about it and get your network excited. It really is a big deal to have such a high profile speaker come for hardly anything. Let me know if you have any questions. ~Paul
Recently i started drinking crystal light instead of cola for calorie reasons and broke out in a rash i thought it was poison ivy or an allergic reaction because we got a pet rat also I stopped drinking crystal light and it went away i thought it may have been okay to drink but when I did drink it a couple of days in a row the rash returned. Thank you for this site!!!!!
Do you remember me? I am Jodi P. Lameo. I was a sophmore when you were a freshman. We use to talk about tennis. Its been years, I try to keep in touch with some alumni like yourself. Its funny how I came across your name, I recently purchased your book "Internet Yellow Pages", at the local Borders, I started to read it and saw your name. At first, it did not click, then I remembered you.
How are you doing these days? Do you stay in touch with any other alumni?
Drop me a line at your leisure. Take care and god bless.
Great web site. I can't believe it's been so many years since Keystone and our summer at Unity House in the Poconos. I'm looking forward to reading more about you.

I just revamped my whole website. Thanks to your very informative lecture on blogging at eBay Live, I also added a blog to my website. I hope you'll check it out at cathyzjewelry.com. Most of it is about jewelry care and tips, but I am planning to expand down the road. Thanks again and I hope you are well.
Nice website! I didn't see any pictures from Sargent Camp! How the hell are you? I got caught up from your Bio, very handy. Me, married for 12 yrs... I think you met her, Liz. I have a son Logan (7) and one on the way! I have been the general sales manger for a Honda dealer just north of Boston for 8 yrs now.
I'm a gentleman farmer too, 5 horses and I think we have chickens too. My wife brings fresh eggs in every night, so we must. Love to hear from you.

The knowledge of your pending move has me perplex. I wanted to learn about the "real" Mikal. The web site is of course way cool, but I feel you are still holding back on your public. Don't be fooled there is more to him.. :-)
Hi - Just googled your "swollen lip" photo. Ate a tuna Sandwich from Paradise Bakery 2 times in the last 2 months. Both times a huge swollen top and bottom lip. This also happens with avocados and sometimes bananas.
I made extra strong coffee (not decaf) and held it in my mouth against my lips and the swelling was gone in less than 1 hour. Hope this helps.
Your work has inspired me to reinvent myself - mainly in response to the economy. I finally made it to your blog today & i was pleasantly surprised.
I too have been blessed with a head for ideas - too many i'd say.
I love Laguna Beach (my former stomping grounds) but i missed having land (am a midwest girl) so i'm now on my 233-acre ranch in Ojai. I will continue to follow your blogs, etc. as i consider you a coach!
Hello Mikal, I plan to begin a blog soon; at this time I'm learning a little about the process of blogging and I learned a lot from your website. I don't know where I heard about your site but I had jotted a note to myself in my journal to look it up so I'm just now getting around to that. I like your philosophy and casualness. I sense realness and meaning to what you do and how you do it. I will spend more time reading your blogs as a resource.
Loved your article on "funpreneurs"! My wife and I had an idea to take a very boring product and have some fun with it.
www.themulchmonkey.com or facebook.com/themulchmonkey
If your interested, watch the video...you'll at least get a chuckle!
I just got around to reading some of your articles(eBay) And find them very informative I think that I'll follow you from now on out because I'm in a learning curve with e-commerce and building a website for pet owner it offer tips and advice about pet care.
Best Wishes.

I found your site reading Entrepreneur Magazine. It said you are a social media consultant. I am trying to get a social media position opened up at my company (Payless Shoesorce). In that vein, I am curious what path led you to qualify as a social media expert?
I am interested in doing business with you, I was referred by a mutual acquaintance. I'm Co-fonder of a salon, and a guest artist at a Beverly Hills, CA salon. I'm currently trying to brand myself to build my business. Please contact me at your convenience.
